During her high school years, Vance developed her skills and gained early recognition through her participation in the Red Hot Show Choir. Her work with the choir helped her refine her vocal technique, stage presence, and performance versatility. Over this period, she earned an extraordinary 17 Best Female Vocalist awards, including four state titles as Best Female Vocalist at the West Virginia Music Educators Association (WVMEA) State Competition. These accolades showcased her exceptional talent and dedication at a young age, laying the foundation for a professional career in music.
Vance continued her musical growth at Belmont University, where she and the other members of DownRiver Collective met while attending the university. They were all active members of The Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble, an experience that allowed them to develop their ensemble skills and explore complex harmonies. Vance graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music with an emphasis in Music Business, combining her passion for performance with a strong foundation in the business side of the music industry.
As the lead singer of DownRiver Collective, Vance has been instrumental in defining the band’s distinctive sound. She brings a rare combination of technical skill, emotional depth, and creative vision, seamlessly blending traditional bluegrass influences with contemporary sensibilities. She was named Vocalist of the Year at the 2025 IBMA Momentum Awards, while DownRiver Collective has received both the 2024 IBMA Momentum Award for Band of the Year and the 2025 FreshGrass Bentonville Award, accolades that underscore the band’s artistic excellence and rising prominence in contemporary bluegrass. These achievements highlight her standing as one of the genre’s most compelling and versatile artists.
